Collision repair in Toms River: what to expect.

A practical guide for Island Heights and Ocean County drivers.

Choosing a collision repair shop can feel like one more task after an already stressful accident. A useful first step is understanding how an estimate becomes a repair plan, what can affect timing, and how the shop will keep you informed.

Auto Craftman & Collision is a family-owned shop at 150 Lake Ave in Island Heights, serving Toms River and Ocean County from the same location for over 40 years. Here is what to expect when you contact our team.

Start with a photo estimate or a shop appointment

A photo estimate is a convenient way to begin the conversation. Use our Carwise photo-estimate link to submit vehicle and damage information through Carwise, or book an appointment to visit the shop. If you are unsure which option makes sense, call 732-270-8099.

Photos show visible damage, but they cannot reveal everything beneath a bumper or panel. An in-person assessment, and sometimes further inspection during the repair process, may identify additional work. Ask what the estimate includes and what could change after inspection.

Understand the repair plan

Damage that appears similar can require different procedures on different vehicles. The condition of the panel, paint, adjacent parts and vehicle systems all matter. We assess the damage and discuss the work needed, whether that involves collision repairs, bumper repairs, paint refinishing, glass replacement or a suitable paintless dent repair.

A repair conversation should cover the proposed work, parts, expected timing and how updates will be handled. Tell us about any questions or concerns about your vehicle so we can address them as part of that discussion.

Coordinate with your insurance company

We work with major insurance companies and help with repair documentation and communication. Bring the claim information you have available when you contact the shop. Coverage, deductibles and payment responsibilities depend on your policy and claim; ask your insurer about those details.

Our role is to help explain the repair plan and coordinate the repair process. If additional damage is found, we discuss the next steps and relevant documentation rather than treating the initial photo estimate as a final diagnosis.

Know what affects repair timing

Repair time depends on the extent of damage, necessary procedures, parts availability and insurance coordination. A small visible dent does not always mean a short repair, and a photo alone cannot establish a reliable completion date.

After assessing your vehicle, we discuss the expected schedule and provide updates while it is at our facility. If you need help arranging transport because the vehicle cannot be driven, call before arranging a tow or an after-hours drop-off.

Ask about workmanship coverage

Our workmanship warranty applies for as long as you own the vehicle. Parts carry the manufacturer's warranty. Ask our team about the coverage and terms for your specific repair, and raise any questions before pickup so we can help.
